A poem about being overwhelmed and just being able to go through the day to day motions.

Clarity fades while drenched in pain,
I drift away from thought.
Washed and drowned by down poured rain,
I fear what might be lost.

Cluttered hopes that strangle dreams,
I pause at what's to come.
Deflated words in soft spoken screams,
I gasp as I run.

Concerned left behind by broken will,
I stare into the dark.
A wrinkled past that makes one ill,
I stand with absent heart.

Crafted smile that strains muted eyes,
I float through events.
Deposed statue filled with internal cries,
I shutter with lack of sense.
