A young girl having horrible thoughts realizes she can control them.
The Voice
She came upon the tree
The thoughts in her mind, assaulting her
How stupid she had been
Replaying the whole scene in her mind
He must have thought her crazy
Or completely ballistic
She hit the tree behind her
She punched the grass beneath her
Replaying the scene in her mind again
Off a sneaker and hit the tree behind her
She punched the grass beneath her
Stupid! Stupid! Stupid! Stupid!
She thought
How could she have been so stupid!
Replaying the scene in her mind again
She raised her sneaker to strike the tree again
And stopped....
She heard a voice whisper to her,
"You know you are in charge of your own thoughts"
She froze...
Stupid! Stupid! Stupid! Stu.....
"Why do you think you are stupid?"
She decided to look around the bark of the tree
But she was all alone, not a soul in sight.
She decided to play along,
"okay" she thought "then if I'm not stupid, what am I?"
"Oh, things could have been handled much much better.
Try again tomorrow."
"Hmm" she thought to herself. "I actually like that"
She leaned against the tree,
In total contentment.
"I could learn to live like this"
