A really weird poem about a weirder dream I have been having about the day we all end.

-What I Know-

This Earth
Does move
Beneath our feet
Fools of comfort
Slaves to conformity
We don’t feel it
Along we must go
Blissfully unaware
That this
Not any of it
Was made for us
We are the virus
The plague upon its ways
An uncontrollable disease
Incurable
So it seems
Find, I’m sure
Such things
Are hard to believe
But such truth
Is a weight
Unbearable
To all who carry it
Out there
In some distorted
Unobtainable distance
That we
All of us
Have trouble conceiving
It, the end
Is gaining on us
Full speed ahead
Without a second of neglect
Without an instant of hesitation
Rest assured its coming
I know it
So well because
I have long since
Drowned and dreamt
Of it
Time and again
Each detail has filled my head
Saturating my heart and soul
I feel I owe all of you this
I can tell you what I know
And how it will go
The least, and or
The most that I can do
We, you, and I
Will be swept away
By water, by air
By flames, and fear
The means aren’t so clear
But does that really matter
Death is defined as the end
Not any one form or method
The time, our when
Is quite precise
Use the same instrument
That I have come to
Look outside
And see it there
In the sky
The precipice of all life
Burning so damn bright
Tearing the blue away
A million earths
And some change
That is it, the end
Coming to us each new day
When it goes
We won’t truly know
Eight minutes too late
Will see the first signs
Of what is to come
Such a realization
Without question
Will be both surreal
And terrifying
What I know
Not from science
Not from books
Not from any articulated words
Is that
Four point five billion years
From this here and now
What is so bright
So unrelenting
Will be without question spent
And when that day comes
God above can’t save us
But again I wonder
Deeply considering
Will there even be
Anything to save
Anyone who remains
Does the end of the sun
Mean nothing more
Then the end of nothing
Are we mired
By some other clock
One that cannot be seen
One not so revealed
I’m just not sure
Nor could I ever be
What I know
Will mean nothing
If such an end comes
Long before the one
Brought on by the sun
These words and others
Made pointless
Either way
When it all crumbles
From our harm will come
Truth and beauty
All of the symbols
Will be cursed and crossed
All of the animals
Both bipedal
And noncommittal
Will be frozen
Or starved to death
Maybe a super nova
Will vaporize us in an instant
Or maybe we will kill
Each other off over time
What I know
And further I must concede
What I don’t…
