Kaelyn has just started college in New Mexico, but what is hiding out in the snow?

Kaelyn
had just got out of her college English class when the snow started
to drift faster to the earth. She stared at the grayish-purple clouds
that covered the sky, in awe, they were beautiful. The snow was just
so amazing, and pure. Her short, curly, red hair danced around her
head as her hips dipped into the walk Kaelyn developed since moving.

Kaelyn
pulled at her short, white, flirty skirt and black leggings as she
walked. She wasn't usually one for shirts but since moving to
Albuquerque, New Mexico, she had become more accustomed to them as
she got comfortable with her body. Not that she had much between the
almost unbearable, dry heat of the summer, and her new friend Jazmin
Bostick.

Kaelyn
had moved out to this hot, culturally rich, city for college, she was
originally from New Orleans, Louisiana. Many have asked her, "Why
such a difference in Geography?"

Kaelyn
wanted a change in climate as well as a change in scenery. It had
also helped to convince her parents, that this was the best school
for her, because of the reputation of the Medical department at the
University of New Mexico.

Kaelyn
walked down the sidewalk on the campus headed towards her favorite
caf Cafde Luna. A small Spanish coffee shop for college
students, reasonable prices, and free Wi-Fi. The snow had started to
collect on dead grass, turning the brown and yellow ground a silver,
glittery white. Kaelyn looked at the mountains, her favorite were the
Sandias, the Spanish word for watermelons, named not because they
grow there, which they don't. The Sandias were named because when
the sun set hits the stone just right the whole mountain turns a
pinkish red, like a watermelon. She sighed heavily, realizing that
the storm would keep her from the amazing sights of New Mexico. All
because the storm dropping the alluring snow is set to hover over
them for a week or more.

Shaking
the thoughts, of something that she couldn't change, out of her
head, as she walked into the caf Kaelyn shook the snow from her
tresses that it had called home for a short while, and walked up to
the counter. Kaelyn ordered a hot apple cider, which was a city
favorite that Jazmin introduced her to. Thinking about Jazmin ,
wasn't she supposed to meet her here for lunch? She wanted to meet
before Kaelyn went to her apartment to get an early start for next
semester. Kaelyn searched the room for her friend, as she waited for
her drink to be ready, how hard could it be to find a blonde with
green eyes? Jazmin was found sitting across the room in a corner
booth with a guy Kaelyn hadn't seen before. From what she could see
he was of an average height, and gorgeous black hair that made him
look like a model. Kaelyn stood there studying the boy wondering what
they were on about, guessing his age to be close to hers if not a bit
older.

The
barista who had taken Kaelyn's order tapping her on the shoulder,
making her jump back into reality, literally. This caught the
attention of boy who had seized the curiosity of the red-head.
Jazmin also looked up from their conversation to see what was so much
more interesting to the boy than her self. Kaelyn's heart dropped
at the cold look Jazmin gave, as well as when the boy's eyes
captured her own, they were the same ghostly blue. Embarrassed,
Kaelyn picked a seat at the bar and took out her Chemistry homework
for the break, trying to calm down and give Jazmin the space if she
needed it to hook up with that guy. She was engrossed in her work
until, she felt someone sit down next to her.

It
was a girl who looked almost exactly like the boy at Jazmin's
booth. Maybe they are twins, brother and sister? The girl looked at
Kaelyn, who realized she was staring again, and flushed trying to
stutter an apology. The girl's perfect wavy hair bounced as she
turned to fully face Kaelyn. A bright smile graced her face as she
held out her hand and introduced herself excitedly, "Hi, I'm
Twyla!"

The cheerfulness was welcoming after a stressful day of Finals and
classes. What was surprising was the girl's eyes, every time Kaelyn
tried to make them out it was like they changed. One moment Kaelyn
could have sworn the girl's eyes were the grayish-purple of the
clouds, which were currently dumping snow on the ground, but after a
long look Kaelyn decided they were blue as the calmest ocean.

Twyla
smiled again sweet but somehow, to Kaelyn, dangerous, her pearly
whites sparkling like the freshly fallen snow outside. "Your name
is Kaelyn Du Vi isn't it?" Twyla asked innocently.

Kaelyn
stuttered before finally stammering out, "H...how did you know my
name?"

Twyla
looked confused and a little hurt, "We have three classes together.
I even sit at the same table as you in English. I followed you to the
cafso I could introduce myself in hopes of being friends. I notice
you are always alone on campus and wondered if you had friends."

Kaelyn
blushed feeling happy that someone was actually being friendly
besides Jazmin, "It's nice of you to be concerned about my
friendships. I do have a friend who I'm actually supposed to be
meeting here."

"Oh!
Am I bothering you or interrupting? Wait if you are meeting her here
shouldn't she already be here?"

Kaelyn
felt embarrassed yet again, this time her face matched the color of
her red hair that fell around her face in loose frizzy curls, that
had been weighed down by the snow. She then pointed out Jazmin , who
was flirting with Twyla's male doppelganger. Jazmin sat with her
back to the other girls in the corner booth, her pleather clothes
were two sizes too small and showed off everything. Kaelyn couldn't
understand that about New Mexico, the girls who were pretty and had a
nice enough body to show off, hid it, ashamed, but the girls who
looked like walking toothpicks, or balloons hardly ever covered any
skin, and thought they were God's gift to men. She felt bad about
thinking that about her first friend, who was truly pretty in the
face, but was disproportioned and had too much padding in some places
that made other places look questionable. Twyla's gasp brought
Kaelyn back from her daydream and back into the world of the living.

"You
mean the floozy hitting on my brother, Seathe?"

Kaelyn
gulped, "I guess. I'm not sure who she's with. I do know that
she gave me a pretty cold, dark look when he stared at me for a
moment, because I was clumsy." That earned Kaelyn a confused look
from Twyla.

After
a minute of baffled looks Twyla smiled sheepishly, "Hey, want to
come to my place and visit my family? I mean it is in the middle of
nowhere, but it is gorgeous and it would give a little bit of
bonding time."

Kaelyn
thought about it for a minute, what could be so bad about bonding
with a fellow classmate and female? The semester did just end and she
wasn't going to do anything all break, but study. Also her
assignments weren't due until January 5
th,
when classes started again. What could a tiny vacation and explore
the state a little hurt? "Sure, no harm in a small vacation before
next semester right?"

Twyla
smiled sweetly, her perfect teeth showing, "Awesome! I'll come
get you in about half an hour after I pack, from here then we can go
to your place and you can pack what you need."

Kaelyn
smiled, happy that she found someone who might be an actual friend,
who might listen to her opinions and won't shut her down. Twyla
then said a cheerful, energized goodbye and stood to leave. That was
when Kaelyn got a real good look at her new friend. Twyla had perfect
waist length blue-black hair that bounced around her hips in
gorgeous, natural beach waves. Her tiny petite figure was
complemented by a Victorian lace dress the color of a deep wine. In
all honestly the dress and it's color made her a whole lot
prettier, the lace made Twyla look elegant and the color made her
creamy skin a tad bit paler.

After
Twyla left, her brother Seathe hurriedly walked out the door after
her as if to catch her. It was then that Jazmin decided to sit next
to Kaelyn, "Man I never thought that freak would leave!" She
sighed and ordered a fat free latte. "That whole family is bizarre.
They moved here from Ireland and instead of moving to a civilized
city, they move to Bum Fucked Egypt. All of them wear dark clothes,
like 'Hello-o' the whole emo style was so last year. I mean
really, why can't they be stylish like you and I? The older brother
is oh my god sexy though. Do you think if I got him drunk enough he'd
do me?"

Kaelyn
looked over her friend, angry, at her friend's obvious jealousy and
hatred. As Kaelyn looked over Jazmin, she noticed that her friend had
been avoiding her normal favorite from the caf as well as she had
put on a tad bit more weight. Could it be that Jazmin was pregnant?
Everyone knew she slept around with anything that walked. Kaelyn bit
her lip and shook her head that wasn't the way to think about a
friend.
