Have we already met, my dear future?
I prayed for you.
Prayer has been my way of connecting with you,
of knowing how you were doing,
of understanding how you were feeling.
Do you know that there was a time while doing my homework in the library
that I suddenly felt the urge to pray for protection for your sake?
I was not certain what was going on with you.
Have you been in an accident?
Have you been seriously ill?
I don't know.

I thought of you every day.
This acquainted me with your presence.
Sometimes, I drew pictures of you when I looked up in the sky.
When the sky has nimbus clouds,
I put a sad face on it,
discouraged that weather will not permit us to meet.
When the sky was bright,
I put a happy face,
reassured that soon
we will meet face to face.

I speak to you through the angels—
hoping that our angels would send messages we'd like to say.
Most of the time I wonder...
how would I recognize you?
Through your height?
your hair color?
through your voice or skin color?
Sigh…
What could be the angel's clue?

Have we already met, my dear future?
You were born in my prayers upon reaching my ninth year.
Now that I am a full grown woman,
I'm waiting with anticipation.
But, who are you among these men?
Please say, "Here I am."
Oh! Man in my prayer,
may you meet me with loving eyes.
