Being a father
I am earning this title. It is too easily bestowed but it is very rarely earned. The title sits on my shoulders comfortably like good armour. I wear it proudly like a chivalrous Knight set out to protect just one Prince. I am Daddy. The feelings, the love, the need and power it gives me makes me a better man. His need for me empowers and humbles me in the same instant. He is my son. My life and my charge.

When he awakens in the dark all fearful and alone, he calls my name and like a blaring signal shone into the air I bound out of bed and to his call. Yet when I am alone in the dark my fears grab me and overcome me. The scratching at my brain weakens my personal resolve but when I am Daddy I fear nothing but his harm. I fear no danger, no man and no evil. As I am Daddy, I am invincible……….. in my sons eyes.

I am the strongest man he knows. The one who can sweep him off his feet and into the air as if he’s flying. I am the Daddy who chases away the shadows and the growling bears in their dark caves. He never has to fear or want whilst I am near. For I am his protector, his guardian, his capeless hero.

In your world I am just another man, in his I am the greatest man.

Just call me Daddy.
