Short poem I wrote mostly on my hand, while I watched the man I intend to marry sleeping.
All that old foolishness falls away
As I lay watching you
That wicked, haunting voice fades
The days of lost love, now years in my wake
I hold your kiss on my lips a bit longer than usual
That which was, is broken
The spell of past lovers cracks
I hear the dawn as she graciously nods the weary moon
Here with you, my timeline is wiped clean
I am not the battered boy who sought to reclaim the heart of his betrayer
I am a new man, whose heart is whole once more
As your love wraps warm around my body
Fearless by your side
No pain to speak of
I wave goodbye to the me I knew
And move forward
Hand in hand with you
