From a previous life (I was young, and dumb). I can rhyme but have no sense of poetry ...
Forbidden Fruit

Forbidden fruit tastes so sweet,
Our bellies growl for us to eat,
Oceans of feelings we ran to meet,
On the sand we let waves beat.

Places we thought we would never go,
A place we called love began to grow,
Passion grew strong in our heart,
We swore we would never be apart.

How is it that something so strong,
Could turn sour and be so wrong?
The fire we lit began to smother,
Ashes grow cold when you’re not there for each other.

Looking back it is easy to see,
The fruited tree came from bad seed,
If what we know now, we knew then,
Could we have stopped, would we have been?

Inside of me there will always be,
A fruit that was you that came from that tree,
Though it is right that we not meet,
Never will I taste a fruit quite so sweet.
