A descent into madness (My first attempt at free verse)
These monsters I see,

They whisper to me -

Whisper sweet nothings,

And gossamer spun fantasies.

My demons don't faze me,

For my angels have betrayed me.

Leave! I shall stay amidst my shadows

And fall deeper into insanity.

Creatures, they surround me :

Beautiful faces showing disparity.

What have I done unto thee,

That you falsely accuse me

Of being right, of being worthy?

The world has shunned me.

My words a mockery.

True though they may be,

Outcast now, I refuse to speak.

So here I'll retreat, I'll shy away.

For I'd rather live in the company

Of the unreal and their savagery.

For knowing is the real agony,

And Knowledge the blade

Of the knife called Reality

Roughly thrust into your heart

By those who swore loyalty.

So let me perish, quiet and unknown

My unfortunate tale untold.

For the Wise always told me

"There is no greater purgatory

Than losing yourself to Insanity

Seek the comfort of death's Darkness

And the Light of wisdom shall no longer blind thee."
