A poem for Lexi's Poetry Challenge
The world is a gray slate that veils my thin vision,
No I didn't really want that to change, I didn't want the color.
But you forced it onto me, pressed your shades into my life,
And now I breathe in color.
The dull monochrome life I lived was morbid,
The same cycle and facade every day,
Putting on my hand painted mask to block the color I kept inside.
The emotionless gray pumped through my veins,
And I was used to it, I didn't want it to change.
But now my world is on fire,
A multicolored mess that I can't sort,
My unmasked face has been brushed by your vibrant shades.
I wanted you to be here,
In my labyrinth of gray,
But I didn't want the rainbows of emotion you came with.
I'm not ready to step out of my dull realm,
I'll just stay here,
And hide in the gray.
