A lawyer moves into an upscale neighborhood with a disturbing past
Karen bratt was moving into an upscale neighborhood with her 10 year old daughter Heather and already the morning was going from bad to worse. Not only did the movers lose some of Karen's belongings but the police had shown up because a nosy old neighbor across the street called to complain that the movers were to nosiey. After the police left Karen and Heather started moving things around. The house was huge 5 bedrooms 4 bathrooms and 2 rec rooms and the kitchen was very spacious which Karen loved because she enjoyed cooking and baking.
Karen was a lawyer she graduated top of her class and had decided after her divorce 2 years ago to open her own law firm she had specialized in family law. Heather missed her dad she often wanted to visit with him but because he had remarried and had a little baby boy he somehow never had anytime to spend with Heather so she had slowly begun to forget about wanting to see him.
Heather started unpacking things in her new bedroom she was so thrilled to move into the new house it was as she would put it "so super cool" and it would be great to meet new friends. Karen was unpacking the kitchen ware and started looking out the kitchen window which looked into the huge backyard she was looking at the big oak tree when she saw a shadowy figure run fast towards the back gate. " what in the world" Karen blurred out as she ran to the front door to catch who ever it was poking around in her backyard. Karen yanked open the door and got the guy by surprise as he darted towards his van " hey you who are you?" Karen yelled out as she walked onto the front porch. The man stopped and slowly turned around "I'm sorry I tried knocking I'm here to put your cable in I was just looking for the cable box". The man said clearing his throat
Karen looked at the middle aged man and saw he was driving a cable truck so she let her guard down and let him come in he seemed like a pleasant man very friendly and talkative. " there you go Madame the TV is hooked up if you have any questions just call me at this number OK" the cable guy gave Karen a piece of lined paper with his phone number along with his name Jamie Flanagan he winked at Karen as he left the house
Heather smiled at her mom " wow mom I think he likes you" Heather started laughing
Karen just smiled at her young daughter "and how can you tell that honey"
" mommmm its so super obvious he winked and smiled at you and gave you his home phone number" Heather said rolling her eyes and laughted again
"Honey I think he was just being nice" Karen said smiling as she took her favorite coffee cup out of the box and placed it on the counter besides her coffee machine
Heather just grined and started flipping through the tv channels. The long day had ended all the unpacking was gone karen had ordered pizza for her and Heather and she was finally able to put her feet up and relax for a while. Heather had slipped into her pjamas and dedicated to investigate the new house she had wondered into a huge rec room there was one on the first floor that her mom was making into an office but this room was slightly bigger and it had two build in oddly shaped bookcases on the right side wall Heather walked up to the bookcase and saw that there was a wooden shaped tiger head statue attached to the middle shelve as Heather started touching it she heard a click and one side of the bookcase slightly pushed itself out from the wall "oh my god could this be a another room " Heather whispered to herself
Heather pulled the door back and started to walk on the other side of the bookcases. It appeared to be a big dark room just as big as the rec room she was just in there was a huge window with white torn curtains but they looked more like old bedsheets attached to the rod and in the corner of the room were a few old boxes. Nikki started to walk slowly towards the boxes the floor creaked with every step as she approached the boxes a hand touched her shoulder Heather jumped and shreked out loud. " I'm sorry honey I was calling you but I guess you didn't hear me" Karen said laughing as she hugged her daughter
Heather just rolled her eyes
" mom isn't this cool there's a hidden room in our house" Heather said grinning "can I use this room as a play room mom" Heather said again
" well I guess it wouldn't hurt I'll have to clean up the room a bit before you play in here though" Karen said looking around the room
Heather started thinking about the boxes " what do you think is in those boxes mom"
Heather said
" I'm not sure honey probably just junk from the previous owners of the house" Karen said guideing her daughter out of the room
