A tribute to one of my influences.
There once was a man, who really knew how to use his mind,
even though he had challenges, such as being blind.
With that terrible challenge, he lived and spoke well,
however life for him, could be parallel to a dreadful hell.

A pessimist he was, for he had a negative view,
If my eyes were shot, I probably would have one too.
It is impossible to know the other challenges he had to face,
whatever it was made him look down on our race.

Besides that, he knew when to stand!
And when it came to his opinions, he never stayed his hand.
He would write and write, and become well known,
and now through his followers, many of his views are shown.

A critic of religion, he showed no shame,
Christians, Muslims, and the Jews were in his aim.
He had no problem stating his plight,
as he was a Deist, and proudly went ahead with his fight.

Still a huge impact, many radicals hate.
Just ask the combatants in Syria's state.
In the middle of their civil strife,
a statue of his was beheaded, with the stroke of a knife.

Even if, his enemies would've loved to seen him seared,
no matter what, he will always be revered.
The influence from him will always be there,
as will his sayings, quotes, style and his flair.
