Ellie never seen Earth, because it had exploded years before, but no one knows why.
Chapter 1:
The fifteen years of Ellie's life was the same thing. Endless darkness and rocks.
Ellie and the other children were the first generation of humans to be born in space. Most people hoped they were the last, but no one knows for sure. The only thing that kept the two hundred humans together over the last twenty years was thinking that there was hope. Hope. She was always told it was stronger than almost everything else in the large universe. The thing that kept her people alive.
Ellie just turned fifteen a few weeks ago. She always kept her blond hair short, a little above the middle of her neck. Pale white skin stretched over her skinny, yet small frame. She hardly reached five foot, and the food they were given was hardly enough to keep them alive. But their food storage was small, just enough to feed two thousand people in one day. Air was, thankfully, not to limited. With only two hundred on board, it was enough to last at least a hundred years. Hopefully, they weren't on that long. Ellie's outfit was tiny. The brown jacket she always wore in the cold space was zipped up to her neck and her pants were once white, but with the dirt and grim of the engine room, they were now almost black. Her dark brown eyes was the only thing that seemed to belong to her.
In the dining hall, all but two were gathered. Ellie stood in the back, with all the rest of children-age three to seventeen-and waited to see what would happen; why they were called there. Everyone waited in silence.
Finally, the two men came. The leaders were dressed in all white, with the exception of the brown sneakers, and walked stiffly to the very front. Everyone in the back cranned their necks to see them, but Ellie did nothing. She didn't move nor make a sound. Nothing. It was as if she wasn't even there.
"Now, ladies and gentlemen. Please take a seat across the room-anywhere would be fine. We need you all settled before either of us can speak." The taller of the two said. He had a thick accent and his white and brown beard made him look a little older than he really was.
All the adults scattered across the room, but the teen's parents seemed to stay as far apart as possible. Her mom had really short blond hair and brown eyes. Her father was the one who always joked around; he had blond hair cut short and green eyes. As the girl noticed the tension between them, it reminded her of the past year. The fights between them, the separate rooms, everything because of what happened to the mother's older brother. It ripped Ellie's parents apart.
Ellie searched the room for her brother. Mark turned eighteen last month and he was an offical adult. The two were very close and they new what happened to the planet. Mark had his blond hair in a buzz cut and his brown eyes always showed concern and worry.
After her eyes rested on him-who was near their dad-she relaxed.
"We have some important news," the shorter one says, "I would like three volunteers. It's time we check out a planet."
