Contest entry for 13 Days of Halloween - Total Truth!

Awakening in the middle of the night--
decide to peek at the prompt
and see spiders: A black widow.
Arachnophobia oozes forth
and into nightmares.
Earworm of 'Don't Fear the Reaper'
still insidious, webbing its way
into my dreams
now accompanied
by the creepy and the crawly.
She sits, that black widow,
on throne of restless sleep
gazing placidly on her minions
all dancing to the tune,
legs reaching, grasping
as the music reverberates.
The hourglass crashes to the floor--
each grain not of Sandman making
but of clusters of more arachnids to clutter
up my night. I awoke screaming.
The first thing I saw
was a spider on the ceiling.
