Final for 13 Days of Halloween
Although the prompt says 'What will you do tonight for Halloween?' for us, it is much more what we shall do today. Tonight is almost anticlimactic except for the kids that will need some convincing to make it to the door!

Today, the rest of the pumpkins will be carved. The dining room table will slowly gain a sticky goo of pumpkin guts and seeds as faces, mostly funny, will bloom into 'Smilin' Jacks.' Candles and lights are ready, knives sharpened, and imaginations at a go! At least one will be hacking up pumpkin guts...and tiny spiders.

Webbing will be unraveled, tightened and carefully stretched to cover the corner of the house, over the walk and end in the trees. Marci's ready (sorry, couldn't resist) to take up residence in the center to peer down at the hobgoblins as they pass underneath this evening. (We really hope the rain holds off!) She's opted for creepy tonight and will spread her eight-legged self across three feet of her queendom! She'll share her webbed home with a few smaller minions, an owl or three and a slew of tiny spiders that will fall in a breeze!

Too, will be the eyes. Glowing, sinister, frowning eyes will be perched on the roof, in the trees, lining the walk. They will fluorescently glow in greens and purples amid the orange lights in the trees. The birdbath will be full of a glowing green liquid, bubbling and smoking, hissing and popping as it 'boils.'

Spooky music will play from hidden speakers and hubby may even pull out the creaky, full-sized, wooden coffin. (Depends upon how exhausted he is...one year he fell asleep in it!)

We will spend the afternoon and early evening preparing for the two hours of begging to follow! We are the 'grandparents' on our street of thirty-somethings, the only ones with no kids at home. Grandkids will come by though and all told, we expect something like 300+ kids tonight. (Having a reputation for 'the best candy' as well as the fact we hand it out by the handsfull, pretty much guarantees a hoard of little goblins. The better the costume? The better the treats! The 'candified' cauldron is full and awaiting!

Even our pooch gets into the spirit of the night and she will be flitting around in her faery costume! I don't need to get dressed up. I'm scary enough as it is! Hubby's hoping to be dressed as a successful hunter, but if not, then dead body (hopefully not snoring) in his coffin. Eight hours from now (it is barely morning) all will be over with til next year. I'll have just under a month until we decorate for Christmas!
