A poem about language...
Paragraphic Language

Cut down old idioms
with sharp axioms
run off
with run-on sentences
question the questions
with periods of exclamation
mix your metaphors
like similar similes
rhyme your oranges
and read what's red
allow alliteration
as if it's assonance
try a couplet
about a couple
bang a symbol
hang a sign
as if it's asinine
use an allusion
about an illusion
let me hold you
(in parentheses)
scheme a theme
gerrymander
a salamander
dial a dialect
add an adverse
subversion
plus personification
is truly animal
(the squid squints at me).

Consonance is a con
so let's romance this dance
like a literary iteration
it's all about
profound pronouns
("She's the One")
my rhyme is up
it's thyme to go
but you're owed
another ode
(you can have
your Nickelback).
