A fictional account regarding sadness
Sadness cannot hold me
not when I flee from its grasp
I stay one step beyond
as it chases
Like my shadow
It cannot take me
nor may I abscond
when I run
I tread a heartbeat ahead
Feeling it full
yet still ahead
I breathe and I feel
and I ponder
and when the time comes
a time of my choosing
I slow and I stop
and I let my sadness take me
before I run again.
