A short, wintry poem.
Wrapped in Winter

Snow delicate, drifting,
as I, off to sleep,
Its blanket enfolding,
falls ever so deep.

Neighbors be silent,
in hovels they rest,
adjusting soft pillows,
for Sandman to test.

Kitten purrs sweetly,
while warming my toes.
The dog on his bed,
a snort from his nose.

No cricket to chirp,
or froggy to croak,
in winter, the time,
for chimneys to smoke.

Now dreaming of skis,
and friends near the fire,
we all sing together,
our heart happy choir.

When morning arrives,
some coffee I'll sip,
awakened to white,
as icicles drip.

It's winter, the time,
for nature to sleep,
wrapped in a marshmallow
blanket so deep.
