A walk in the park after school turns into a horrific nightmare!!
It was just a normal day at school. Everybody was gathered in the hall listening to the boring headmaster babble on about our last day in Year 6 and how important our next years in secondary school will be to our futures. I was next to Amanda. She was starting to get restless and her legs started to jump up and down viciously. The bell rang throughout the school. Everybody in the hall jumped out of their seats and cheered. It's not like they could give a detention to any of us now anyways. Amanda who was first out of the gates (as usual) was waiting for me across the road to walk home together. We started to head towards the hill that led into town. Amanda said "Why don't we go through the forest today? It is a lot longer and it might be the last time we ever speak in person." I nodded my head in agreement and so we started to head towards the forest. The forest was full of life. The trees were waving, the birds were singing and a branch cracked behind us. Amanda swirled scarily quickly to see what was behind us and she shouted "Dan... Is that you?" Dan was our other best friend; we were all very close and loved to play pranks on each other. There was no reply. We carried on walking. We were deep in the forest now and another twig snapped in front of us this time. "Wh... Who's there?" I whispered carefully and nervously. Amanda sighed "Who's there?" She yelled at the top of her voice. "Amanda" I exclaimed quietly "Be careful!" She ran a little ahead of me and said "Don't be such a wuss" She turned towards the springs. I heard the most frightening, ear-piercing scream I have ever heard in my entire life. "Amanda!" I yelled at the top of my voice as I ran towards the springs. My heart was racing and my blood was pumping. I turned into the path to the springs and saw Amanda standing as still as a statue staring straight ahead. At this time I couldn't tell what she was staring at as her body was in the way. I walked around her constantly looking at her and said "What's up A?" She slowly lifted a finger which pointed towards a body face down in the blood-red springs. I walked towards the body, suddenly finding my courageous side, and turned it with my hand. I heard Amanda starting to weep behind me. I looked straight into the stone cold face and realised... It was Dan. I walked back to Amanda who had now fallen to the ground. I put my arms around her and held her tight afraid that I might lose her as well. I felt Amanda's head turn and she, once again, started to scream. I quickly rose to my feet and turned to see what Amanda was screaming at. A man stood quiet close to the springs and held a gun pointed towards us both. He shot the ground near Amanda and I stood in front of her to block any other bullets that might come her way. Only what I didn't realise was that Amanda was to her feet and waiting for the perfect time to strike. He started to slowly pull the trigger Amanda jumped in front of me and blocked the bullet. The bullet, however, hit Amanda in the knee not killing her but forcing her to faint in shock. The man needed to reload his gun so I, being the 'courageous' boy I am, leaped towards the man and kicked him in the leg. He fell to the ground and dropped his gun. I grab the gun with both hands and pointed it at the criminal. I pulled the trigger...
The End
