A tribute to a mentor and a jolt about the futility of our existence (inspired by a hymn)
AT THE BANK

The bank of the river where it all ends,
The Deep,
The Earth,
The dust from whence we came.
We did come,
We did see,
conquer? The verdict we await!
Through it all, our ship sails to unknown horizons,
Unknown harbor,
To return no more...
The passage of time we can only hope to elongate,
But assuredly,
Six feet below it all ends!
