be wary of the man with the looking glass.
BACK around the time Columbus came to the Americas, there was a saying from the Natives warning their young from the strange explorers that went something like "Be wary of the man with the looking glass". It's still unsure how exactly the looking glass part came about, but it stuck. There were rumors that one of the first ways the explorers tried to lure young natives away was through using looking glasses to trick them into become slaves. One particular story that led many of those who heard this believe it.
About a year after the first explorer landed upon the sandy shores of North America, the Native tribe of the Zthulites was living near the coast when a child and some of their friends ran outside to the shore to play in the ocean when the child noticed a glint near the treeline.
He got distracted and left his group of friends, who hadn't noticed it. He found his feet leading him towards the strange glint, which had started flashing. Each time the glint reappeared, the young boy couldn't help but stare at it.

Then the glint disappeared for good.

The boy's mother started getting worried near dusk when her son didn't return, but his friends did. She asked them, but they were no help.

Except for one.

The girl said she saw him walking away towards the strange glint in the treeline when two men that she remembered as "the strange white folk" come running behind him and snatched him up and took him into the woods.

The boy's mother knew what had happened. She cursed the men and their ancestors to permanent suffering and the destruction of their bloodline and started to mourn for her firstborn son.

The only problem is both those men were my ancestors, and now I'm the last of my bloodline because of it.

There's a way I can stop it, but it's not going to be easy.

Fear the man with the looking glass.
