A talk between two friends ends with one becoming one with the woods, literally.
Anna is a 15 year-old lumberjack girl, chopping wood like it was nothing so it could be firewood for the winter. Her brown hair matched the color of the trees surrounding her as she did her job. In fact she loved being with the trees so much, she wished she were one of them. Becoming a tree was one of her childhood dreams that unfortunately was shot down by her parents. She doesn't need to worry about that any longer, though.

One day, a visitor came to her cabin while she was chopping wood. Her name was Samantha, and she is 14 years of age. She's a Goth girl with long purple hair that she keeps in a ponytail. Even wears thick glasses because she's also a very big reader, usually in the horror and manga books. And there is also a purple cigar that she smokes with in her mouth. It contains magical powers that she knows about. Samantha goes by the nickname Sammy, and she's been friends with Anna since they were kids.

Sammy's been meaning to visit her dear friend after 3 weeks when Anna moved with her parents out in the mountains. Speaking of Anna's parents, they were recently among the list of disappearances that have been going on out in the mountains lately. But that hasn't been bothering Anna since she doesn't get along well with them. But she should've been more careful what she wished for upon being alone. Sammy made sure of that, not that the Goth girl would harm her best friend or anything.

"Hello, Anna?" Sammy called after walking to the cabin's front door. "I'm right here." responded another voice to Sammy's left. Turning her head to that direction the Goth girl sees her lumberjack friend holding a pile of wood in her arms ready to be chopped to pieces. Putting the wood pile down, Anna then ran over to her friend and gave her a big hug. "I missed you." Anna said to her friend. "Missed you too," Sammy responded in return. Breaking the hug, both girls then helped put the wood next to the stump used for cutting the logs into two. And with the ax being stuck into it until being used.

"What are you doing here anyway?" the lumberjack girl asked to her Goth friend. She was just starting to cut the wood with the ax when she asked that question. "Oh nothing much," Sammy said in a casual manner. "Just thought I came by to visit my best friend. That's all I was doing." Faking annoyance, Anna continued her chopping chore as she lifted her ax and swung it down on the helpless logs as they met their fate. Unknown to all but her friend, the 15 year old was imagining the logs to be some perverted stalkers that have been following her for a few months prior to her move to the mountains with her parents. They've been an annoyance to her for a while when the move happened. The look of satisfaction on her face as she pictured them dying by her own hands.

An hour passed before all the wood was chopped up and put away into the pile used for the firewood needed for the cabin. It was at this point that Sammy walked over to Anna and talked with her. The topic in question was the strange disappearances going around. "Yeah, I admit it is pretty strange," Anna said. "How exactly do 23 people just vanish so quickly like that? Makes absolutely no sense." "Who knows," her Goth friend replies. "Probably got chased by some of the animals living here. Or got abducted by alllllliiiiiiiieeeeeeennnnnsssss." Laughing at that little joke, both girls turned their eyes towards the sunset. During this exact view Sammy smokes from her cigar at least once or twice before blowing the contained smoke out of her mouth. Anna has gotten used to her friend's smoking habits for a whole year now, but still it irritates her with all of that smoke coming out. She couldn't tell that to her friend though, for fear of breaking Sammy's heart drastically. However unbeknowst to her, Sammy already knew about that thought inside the lumberjack girl's mind.

"So beautiful," Anna sighed. "Don't you agree?" Nodding in response, the Goth girl still went on with smoking her precious cigar in content. "Makes me wish I wanna be a part of this forest forever and ever." She said this with a tear in her eye, as she was really hoping that her wish could be granted. She would not care who or what would give her what she wanted, as long as she got that wish Anna would be fine. A mass of purple smoke then appeared seemingly out of nowhere and covered the brunette's body completely. Things then get bizarre 10 seconds later.

The same purple smoke slowly got bigger and bigger. Enough to be the size of one of the trees in the forest. An outline of a tree appears in the smoke as the smoke clears up. Sammy could see a few branches out of it. More and more parts of a tree are seen until the whole thing is visible. Green leaves adorned the treetop, looking healthy as though it was recently grown. Gone was Anna, her best friend in the whole wide world, and in her place was a tree that was just like all the others in the forest.
"You said you wanted to be a tree so badly," Sammy said to the tree in a casual manner. She said this while holding the cigar in her hand, bits of burnt ash dropped on the floor next to her. "Well. Wish granted." The Goth girl walked to the trunk of the tree in front of her and sat down under it. "If only you ever knew more about me Anna. Then probably you would've been this way a long time ago." She said this while getting another smoke from the cigar.

Sammy is revealed to be from a family of druids. The druids she happens to belong to excel in transformation magic respectively. Apparently they were also responsible for the disappearances of the 23 people that came to this forest while they were all camping on that night. Some of them turned into animals while the rest became trees like Anna. Sammy's parents wanted their daughter to get into the family tradition, which the girl did with all her heart surprisingly. The Goth girl takes after her mother for the plant related spells, and uses the purple cigar mainly.

Now that her work is finished, Sammy walks away from the cabin and leaves. Now that her best friend got what she wanted there's no point in having to see the poor girl go through disappointment and grief day in and day out. If anyone asked the Goth girl any questions concerning her lumberjack friend, she would say that all she did was merely grant her friend her wish. That's all she would say to them. Nothing more, nothing less.
