This is turning the short story "Pilon" by Sandra Cisneros into a Poem.
Heading home after a long day of school
You decide to rest on a bench outside a restaurant
Slowed down while listing to faint music their
You remember a time, a time similar to you, but not you
You glance at the reflection you see in that window

You see a kid in the window with a slight connection
This kid is not you but you watch intently
The kid dances in the street happily as with no care
There are others in celebration with the kid being joyful
You do not know this kid, but there is something about it.

Looking into another window at a different reflection
A different time, a place similar to reality, but same place as before
A teenager instead of a kid now who shivers in a breeze with hollow eyes
A teen who gave an uncertainty when meet with the slightest gaze
A sad story that you are being show, but why?

Another window shows the reflection of the same person
As a young adult now hurrying down the road with a back pack
You have a feeling self-confinement as this student going somewhere
That student looks weary and tired as the back pack pulls down the shoulders
The student looks so close and familiar, but feels so far away, maybe even running away

You look around as a lot of time has passed
You wonder about the person you have been watching
What has happened that this person, this student feel so far away
Is this your life and why you feel so connected or a dream or some kind of reflection?
Maybe a self-reflection of choices that have been made, a choice so big, a Rubicon?

While sitting here, being caught in between reality and a made up world
The last reflection you see right through the glass to see two people dressed in black
A mom and dad as they are in mourning and that kid is now where to be seen
This is a funeral for a person that committed suicide a student that no longer lives
These are that young adult’s parents who are now burying their child

This person has wondered away and alone in the darkness was consumed
This person you saw that was full of light and drifted away into sadness
A student who was isolated and a burden too heavy for one person
A person who fell into depression for what reason?
A person that is a reflection of myself and what can come.
