A poem about love and loss.
As I sit beneath the willow

Weeping,

My lover lies

As if he’s sleeping.

I cradle his face

With hands that shake,

Close my eyes to the sun,

And will him to wake.

“Wake, love, wake!”

I scream to the sky,

Lay my head on his heart,

“Please wake,” I cry.

My lover wakes me,

Quiets my screaming.

“Wake, love,” he whispers,

“You were only dreaming.”
