A friend missing a friend
The long unwinding road, is the song that you said reminded you of me
You said you would always end up at my door and now it's you that I long to see
We spend so many years together, growing up and dreaming dreams, just you and I
That was so long ago, that was so long ago my love those years just flew by
I was so sure that you would end up knocking at my door but maybe in another life
You put my hand in yours and I knew you were the one, yes I loved being your wife
My oh my, how time just slips away from us from the first kiss, to the last hug from you
Even now two years later, my eyes run the tears of missing you
I knew that only death could part us two
I close my eyes and I can hear your voice, I feel your arms around me
Yet, when my eyes open you are not there but you used to be
Still I remember your nervous smile whenever I looked into your hazel eyes
The quiver of your lip as we lightly touched, it was real our love was never lies
My love who would always show up at the end of the long unwinding road just in time
No longer to embrace you or hold you close, still the memories of us will always be mine.
