I miss those days, now long gone by when sunset was a lullaby. A Bard's Hall Music Entry
Sunset Melody

I miss those days, now long gone by,
when sunset was a lullaby;
a song rejoicing what had past
when eventide had come at last.

I listen to the siren’s scream,
the shattering of someone’s dream.
The music blaring from the cars
drowns out the silence of the stars.

The wind sighs softly in the tree;
it plays each branch, each tender leaf,
a part of nature's symphony.
The cricket’s chirping softly sings
in counterpoint to nightbird wings.
This is the sunset's melody.

The T.V. blares across the room;
the landing planes – their sonic boom
no longer even make me blink.
I’m deaf from all the noise I think.

I lie in bed and as I drift,
the memories that still uplift
and bring me peace enough to sleep
into my nightly dreams still creep.

The wind sighs softly in the tree;
it plays each branch, each tender leaf,
a part of nature's symphony.
The cricket’s chirping softly sings
in counterpoint to nightbird wings.
This is the sunset's melody.

I miss those days, now long gone by,
when sunset was a lullaby;
As I drift off I still can hear
a sunset melody so clear.

The wind sighs softly in the tree;
it plays each branch, each tender leaf,
a part of nature's symphony.
The cricket’s chirping softly sings
in counterpoint to nightbird wings.
This is the sunset's melody.

Fade
I miss those days,
now long gone by,
when sunset was a lullaby…
