The joy of God's gift offering
Amidst the dark and brackish storm
Replete with tangled measured gloss
Therein the reigning Son of light falls
As men and women slept a story waits
A donkey brays in yonder manger stable
Who will greet the gift of God's living presence?
A virgin waits for the time of birth ripe
A man, a dreamer will lead the way to Bethlehem
How does one know if all will go as planned?
Faith takes its stand as evil lurks to steal away.
I was there prayerful that God could provide hope.
As the wizard kings of the far east consult the stars
Silently a place awaits the coming of this couple and infant cry
The birth pangs of eternity knock on a woman's womb
Yet, no place at the inn confused a betrayal "God no".
God knows well humanities objection to the divine rule
All nature in the cave of a manager stable calls
There is a place of rest amidst a sleepless night
Shepherds listen to the call of the angel, courage has arrived.
