Bright stars,
Vivid skies,
Silent night,
Don’t feel right.

Radio’s on,
Ambient chatter,
Silent night,
Still not right.

Rustling trees,
Ill at ease,
Silent night,

Guns blazing,
Souls fading,
Radio’s screaming,
“Enemy stampeding!”

Foxholes lifeless,
Radio’s timid,
Tears in eyes,
Silence lied.

Morning hides,
darkness resides,
Silent night,
It was never right.
