A fun contest.
She became aware that he’d climbed into bed as he jostled it. A thought ran through her mind. She pondered if she would have been too deep in sleep for his musky smell to waken her. She slid toward him and ran her fingers through the long blonde hair behind his neck.

He realized she was still awake and rolled over. It was nice to snuggle before going to sleep, and he pushed his face into her neck. She wasn’t expecting a little lick, and she giggled. She pushed him back a bit.

“You know it’s not playtime.” She said sleepily, while her small frame slid him back. She was deeply moved by his attempt, and was sad the time just wasn’t right, because she had to sleep.

He loved the hug, and while it might have not been the first, it might have been the first real one he’d experienced. The relationship ... their relationship, was wonderful. He was blessed, because she was so good to him. She was very new to much of this, and really had some concerns. But he was there, and in her little apartment, they’d bumped into each other every day.

It was perhaps meant to be, because they both needed each other. Perhaps for different reasons, but she hugged his warm frame and nuzzled in, he was about the fuzziest thing ever to be in her bed. “You’re a good dog. I’m not sure who rescued who…”
