love aches
you took hold of my sunsets and erased them of their color.
silence became more familiar than words.
it creeped through my window and hid under my fingernails
it made its way around my neck and suffocated me.
and my slumber was disturbed by overplayed melodies of the words you once said.
and hearing that song again felt like being stabbed in the chest,
but my heart was still locked up in chains for yours.
and eventually one night,
i ran to the tallest hill
and screamed your named,
but you didn’t hear.
the salt from my own tears dried out my throat until i couldn’t speak any longer.
and my heart was cut open .
i tried to stop it from bleeding,
but it bled through my my shirt, dripping down my arms, off my fingertips, and onto the ground.
and i fell,
and looked up to the stars,
looking for why you never gave me the answers i deserved.
