golden trails at sundown
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀ ‧₊࿐ྂ♡┊͙⋆*。
⠀⠀⠀
your skin bathes in pools of sunlight
whilst the moon places golden flakes on
the tip of your nose from the other side of
the horizon, and dusts your cheeks with
glimmering star trails that sing gleefully
amber-tinged lullabies once in a while
⠀⠀⠀
so tell me why, my love,
tell me why my soul's trapped within
a body unable to dance along to
the arpeggios i hear from beyond
faraway mountains and drink the last
sunrays of the day,
⠀⠀⠀
why can't i also be a sunflower in
that elysian field of yours, where you keep
tulips so violet they stain my whole world
so deep in blue and roses so white they
lure the colour out of my heart and
place themselves between my ribs instead
⠀⠀⠀
i still dream of honeyed curtains that
overlook sun-kissed fields and
a town so yellow it blinds the glimmers
in my eyes (just pieces of the sun that
i keep within my irises)
⠀⠀⠀
you bathe in pools of sunlight
but little do you know, my eyes are
those pools of honey you'll never meet
little do you know, my fingertips are
drenched in moonlight, forever waiting
to paint melodies on your skin
