A poem about not letting go of the past.
I hate to sleep at night
no matter how early I eat
I see my lover in a crueler light
and when my eyes are closed we meet

You, my former life
I stayed behind
to become another's wife
because he had commitment in mind

But in dreams you're looking for me
and we shop for houses on the beach
happier than we could ever really be...
I wonder what your ghost wants to teach

In the store if I turned down an aisle
and a few feet away you stand
I'd say it's been a while
then show you my wedding band

I've run this so long through my head
I wish it would be over soon
So at last we can rest in our beds
under different moons
