Stranded in the midst of fog
I borrowed an old banger from a friend to visit my family on the country side of England. I wanted to visit them before my leave to the United States. Since I was a child, my family would always tell me stories about serial murders and psychopaths living in the U.S., but I still decided to go anyway. I was about midway down a desolate dirt road when the old banger's engine began to steam up and slowed to a stop. I felt my heart drop and a dreadful feeling at the pit of my stomach. I turned off and on the car multiple times but couldn't get it running. I searched my purse for my phone before realising that I never owned one. I was going mad already! I didn't know what to do. I had no way of contacting anyone nor did I know anything about mechanics.
The sky began turning grey. Then a shade darker not long after. Water drops ran down the windows of the car. Minutes slowly ticked by, then hours and not a single car drove by. A fog began to creep and settle in, surrounding me, clouding my sight like a smoke bomb. Getting denser bit by bit. Then, when I thought things couldn't get any worse, I felt the need to pee.
Fear began wrapping around my body like unhallowed talons. I felt this sense like something horrendous was going to happen. What if I never get found? What if I die from starvation, or something far worse? What if...this and that. I looked at myself in the mirror and saw that the rosiness of my cheeks were gone and the liveliness of my skin was flushed. I was as pale as a corpse. I knew I needed to stay strong and do something. So, I gathered up my courage and placed my hand on the door handle to get out of the old banger and march my way to civilisation. But then, macabre thoughts began squirming inside my head. I decided it was safer just to stay inside the car with the doors all locked and windows shut, like the fog outside was poisonous. It could very much have been!
After hours of being stranded there, I felt myself weakening by the minute. My eyes could no longer be kept open. But then, the most marvellous thing happened. Like the first ray of sunlight, a man came to save me. He stood, for a moment, in front of the headlights coming from his car. He stood before the old banger like a knight in shining armour. So, I now gathered up all the strength I had left in me to reach for the window and place my palm against the glass as a plea for help. The young, handsome lad came to my rescue. He grabbed the door handle and prised open the door. I fell towards him and he grabbed me with such a might.
He swept me up off the ground and onto his mighty arms. He was carrying me to his car when I let out a murmur. He froze, right in front of those headlights again, to listen to the words I was trying to vocalise. But I couldn't. My arms fell from around his neck. That's when he knew I was slowly slipping away. He screamed nooo! at the top of his lungs towards the sky. Then, he reached for my lips with his and gave me the grandest kiss I've ever felt. When he did that, I felt this surge of strength swarm through my body and my eyes widened like a child in awe. I took in a deep breath and stared right into his dreamy eyes. I wrapped my arms around his neck again and returned that grand kiss.
