Flu-COVID19
What you are about to see is all factual taken from NHS records over the last few years from 2014/2018. The information on ‘flu deaths provided is the latest official and complete information available. The ‘deaths with Coronavirus’ figure is correct as of Easter Sunday, 12 Apr 2020

Information for Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland are recorded separately and I have not been able to find comparable figures to add to what you are about to see. Nevertheless, the data for England is interesting on its own.

Here are two basic questions.

How many people die of the ‘flu each year?

And how does this compare with the Coronavirus?

On March 5th 2020 I presented facts about world flu deaths

1. Up to 650,000 people worldwide die each year due to seasonal winter ’flu
2. That’s according to the WHO and studies from the US Center for Disease Control

I now present facts about the flu virus in the UK between 2014/18

They are macabre but fascinating facts that many of us don't know about.

’Flu deaths in England 2014–2018, versus deaths “with Coronavirus” in 2020
Deaths attributed to the ’flu have varied between 11,875 and 28,330 per winter season

So far this year, deaths of people who tested positive for Coronavirus total 10,612
We still have no official information on how many of these deaths were actually due to Coronavirus

The exact timing and duration of flu seasons can vary, but influenza activity often begins to increase in October. Most of the time flu activity peaks between December and February, although activity can last as late as May.

2014/15 was no different it began in October 2014 and by April 2015 NHS England had recorded 28.330 deaths

We move on to 2015/16 flu season. Again the same months 11,875 deaths recorded by NHS England.

We now move on to 2016/17 flu season Again the same months 18,009 deaths recorded by NHS England. We can be forgiven missing those flu deaths in that season we were more concerned with Brexit.

So, let's turn to 2017/18 what happened in that season? Well, NHS England recorded 24,408 flu deaths. The information on ‘flu deaths provided above is the latest official and complete information available.

Lets now turn to the Coronavirus and what we know about it.
We know it originally came from China and it according to both China and WHO began in November, although unfortunately, China is by nature a secretive country so we only have their word for it, and we now know that the WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus is in the pocket of China. It was China who set out to give Ethiopia where Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus lives millions of $s. It was China that put his name forward and it was China that gave 55 African countrys money in the form of aid, and it was China who then sat back and watched every African country vote in China’s chosen man who won the vote by 55 votes. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus is now the first person in the history of WHO not to be a physician

However, let's look at this COVID19 virus in our country
Deaths with Covid19 at the time of writing10,612 that is since November when the Chinese first knew about it and letting people travel in and out of China.

There’s no doubt that the Coronavirus is a vicious little bastard. By the time that most readers will have read this, the number of deaths in the UK as a whole, where the deceased also tested positive for the Coronavirus, will have topped 10,000. My concern remains proportionality of response, as it has been from the start.

No one ever batted an eyelid or launched a drone because of deaths from winter ’flu

In the winter of 2014/2015, England on its own lost 28,330 people due to the ’flu, to say nothing of Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. Neither the Government nor the media batted an eyelid. All businesses and shops remained open, as did schools, restaurants, charities, churches, parks, and everywhere else.

Flights continued as normal. No holidays, weddings, or concerts were cancelled. The plans for the General Election, the Olympic Games, the 2016 EU Referendum, and even the Eurovision song contest continued to stay on track.

The police were not employing drones to keep us all under effective house arrest. Operations for serious conditions other than the ’flu were not being cancelled. Elderly and sick people could continue to see their doctors. And the economy was not being trashed for the younger generation. Also, think about this 28,330 people dead must mean our hospitals were full of patients being treated and dying from Influenza

In other words, life went on, completely unchanged. 28,330 people died of the ’flu in England alone. 89% of these people were pensioners. But life went on.
As I finalise this article 10,612 people have died in England who have also tested positive for the Coronavirus. We don’t know how many have died “of the Coronavirus”, we only know that 10,612 have died “with the virus”.
Let’s keep things sensible and form opinions based on facts
The ’flu kills. Massive job losses kill. Poverty and despair kill. Lack of exercise kills. Over-eating through boredom kills. Total loss of quality of life kills.
