Friday

“It’s Friday.”

“Are you sure about that?”

“Is it important?”

“Not sure. But it doesn’t seem Friday-ish.”

“Friday-ish... what does that mean?”

“You know, like Fridays feel.”

“No, I don’t know what you’re talking about.”

“Well, you know how Saturdays are always relaxing, fun days, Sunday’s are more serious, rest days. Then Monday’s are back to work, settling down to business, getting restarted days. Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday are the real work days when everything gets done. They flow. Then Friday winds up the week, ties up the loose ends, finishes up things or packs them up so you can pull them back out next week if you need to.”

“John, you have to get a grip on this. You have to start accepting it. It’s not going to change now. This is our new reality. I know it’s been hard for you but if you give it a chance, you might get to like it. I love it! Really, I really do love it already!”

“I don’t know, Honey. I just can’t seem to get it. I can’t seem to make my brain accept it.”

“Don’t worry, you’ll get there. It’s just going to take you a little longer than other people. Now, I want you to take a deep breath, and just repeat after me. I am retired.”
