Of all the pieces from the shattered glass, one found a way out.
The morning mist still hung outside my window so I laid still under my covers breathing smoke out of my nostrils. The floor was dead cold, I could tell because the air outside my blanket was freezing. It was only 5:30am. My eyelids couldn't shut again after hearing a creak outside in the living room. My ears were now very sensitive and all sorts of thoughts ran through my mind; if it was a highway there would have been a lot of casualties; but all I could hear was faint music from some late night drinkers, dogs howling and birds testing their vocals for sunrise. There wasn't much to hear now and my eyelids were heavier than before so my brain switched to "sleep mode".
Five minutes later... well it felt like only five minutes ago I shut my eyes; it was 6:30am and I could hear voices coming from the living room.
''Yeah it's Saturday and they're all sleeping in". "But Susie, didn't you forget? Indie is always up early but pretends she's still asleep".
Dad knew me too well, and sometimes it's annoying. "Urgggh! why do they have to do this now". I could almost hear my body speak from weakness and then my expectation came alive.

''Indie! Indie! Indie!''. No answer. "Indie I know you're awake just answer". Still no answer. "Indie!, mummy and I are going to the bakery for breakfast, you in?''
''Oh man! I just wanted five more minutes", groaned my eyelids. ''Shh! it's already dawn and I'm empty, I need a refill for you to function, so just chill ok, you'll get your five minutes after 10:00am or noon". Snapped my stomach. ''Will you two be quiet? I'm trying to make a decision here!''. And that was my brain.
I finally made it out of my blankets and boldly stepped onto the floor. It was so cool that I had to jump and hop about the room to pump my blood and get my jacket from the wardrobe. ''Daddy, wait! I'm coming", I called out as I ran out and down the steps.

If only everyone cared and noticed that each individual has a hollow in their little fragile hearts, I think this world would be a place to be.
Everyone just wants a place to be; a place to love and be loved, a place to feel the liberty to do what they believe, a place to care and be cared for but most of all a place where we're all at peace.
Each piece of a shattered glass deserves a little time to heal and get back up, to feel what it's like to be strong and independent, trustworthy and respected both in his/her community, in school or at work.

When a glass shatters or breaks it has about a hundred or a thousand pieces that all fall apart and away from the main glass itself. Well I believe that each of these glass pieces have their own story after their mother/home was destroyed.
