A poem that I wrote when I lost my female miniature schnauzer, Kelsy.
Sorry I could not save you,
Your last breath was the first of my last.
Your memories leave a hue,
In my mind of days past.
Like a mad scientist I want to reanimate you.
To take a cue,
From an angry ancient god.
I want to rescue your soul from the afterlife.
Now my life only knows strife,
Of thinking your life.
It belongs here with me,
Not here in after.
But what can I barter,
With the Keeper of Souls.
Can the Reaper of Time,
Go back and change its mind?
To give you back to me,
That would be eternally fine.
Can my tears make the River Styx,
Flow backwards?
I know not any mystical words,
I can only wait by the River’s shoreline.
