Morning Person

About to run out the door I made the mistake of glancing in the mirror. There I am in all my glory. A clean, but stained shirt, my raveling cut off jean shorts, and my dirt stained sneakers. Clean socks and underwear! But, one doesn’t get much credit for that out in public. At the absolute top of my failure list, even for just going to the grocery store, my hair.

I seriously looked like I’d just stuck my finger in an open electrical socket. Did I even remember to comb it today? I can’t remember. I’ve have been up for hours, but, once my feet hit the floor, I am already thinking projects at full speed. I’m a morning person. Something that drives most of the rest of the universe crazy I’ve noticed.

You’d think people who take time to wake up and get going would appreciate those of us who are already there to help, but no. They think we’re annoying. It doesn’t even matter that we have already cleaned the house, made them a cup of life (coffee) and have ongoing projects which will usually be appreciated later... when they don’t have to do them.

Plus, can I help it if the one thing that just doesn’t mean a lot to me is how I look to other people? Clean and harmless, that’s my goal! The hair, well, I would like it combed, though it doesn’t look much different when it’s combed. I have natural curly hair, I’m probably the only one who can even tell it’s been combed or not...

I look in the mirror again, then look at my watch. I have just enough time before my favorite afternoon TV show comes on... I’m not an afternoon person, the hair is good enough, I’m gone!
