Introvert

“Megan! Are you ready?” yelled her best friend Tina.

“No.”

“Come on, we’re gonna be late!”

“I want to be late, I don’t even want to go at all.”

“You have to go. Don’t make me regret that I told you.”

You know how much I like this kind of thing...”

“I’m sorry. I couldn’t stop it. All I could do was warn you.”

“I know, I know... This isn’t going to be good.”

“Well if we don’t get going, they’ll think it’s my fault, and that will be worse! I’ll be in trouble!”

“OK, yes, you’re right. I get it. Thank you for telling me. At least I don’t have to walk in there blindsided.”

“That’s what friends are for. Now let’s go!”

“You’re actually enjoying this aren’t you!!” Megan said.

Tina laughed.

Ten minutes later as they walked through the door of the restaurant, “Surprise! Happy Birthday Megan!” from every direction at once!

It was a very long, night for Megan. But, on the other hand, she remembered it dearly for the rest of her also long, and still introverted life.
