Hallmarks of a nation... A Daily Poem Entry (Form: Monchielle)
American Heraldry

What is the herald of
strength? It’s quietly proclaimed
in the way that we stand,
in a proudly held head,
in the touch of a hand.

What is the herald of
peace? Does it softly glow
like the dawn's sun-kissed skies?
It's the soul's gentle smile
that shines in our eyes.

What is the herald of
freedom? Is it only
shades of red, white, and blue?
Under its surface, you'll
find a yearning heart's hue.

What is the herald of
a nation? It is seen
in its people's faces.
White, red, yellow, brown -
a rainbow of races.
