free verse poem about an inner struggle with loss and spirit healing found in Nature
"Silent Scream"

Only to her ears, Scream resided within. Silent to the observer.
Devastating and debilitating
         tearing her flesh
         breaking bones to splinters
         crushing Heart to red dust

A love found and lost
A child born and gone
An intruder with destructive intentions disrupted precious lives.
An apparent enemy to her soul rusted blood and sucked oxygen.
Silent Scream took up residence.
Mercy was a stranger to her mind, body, and spirit.

A wedding band neglected. Her offspring lost in darkness.
Her smiles deceived onlookers. Pretense eroded all hope.
Silence to only those ears of others. Silent to all passers-by.
Scream, an inferno, raged with high intensity. Yet know one knew.

Was there no caregiver to notice and help extinguish the pain?
No friend can hear the pleas. Nor her lover, not her son.
Seemingly, no escape for sanity's sake.

Until one day, as if by magic,
beneath a magnificent magnolia tree, Scream left.
It left on the wings of a roaring wind.
While she stood there below strong boughs of that mighty tree,
Wind returned with Song. Tree music. Cool breezes rustled leaves;
a soft lullaby, intended for well-being, an ease for Soul's healing care.

Chirping and cawing birds accompanied verses Heart sang with glee.
Landscape within painted her whole person with bright hues.
Spirits of Nature's sprites danced on Heart's stage
making it strong and vibrant again.
Woodpecker's tree busy-ness mimicked Heart's drumbeat.
In unison, she reconnected to Life's wellness and purpose.
Standing beneath a tall and sturdy trunk of a blooming Magnolia,
sweet-white fragrance was her healing tonic.

A walk among the trees and a stroll where Nature's peace
is bountiful, where beauty and harmony is abundant,
Scream did not return. Life was restored. Heart rejoiced.
