It's happened again. I reviewed a poem, gave GP'S and nothing but crickets. But why?
I wrote a piece a while ago called, 'You', "You describing how it felt when someone (a male author, who we both thought of as brilliant) who I should have looked up to and admired, but he decided that because (I assume) my name wasn't, Trixie or Candy, that the positive review and the GP'S I gave didn't deserve a thank you or any acknowledgement whatsoever.

I am by nature confrontational (assertive). Some might see this as a bad thing, but I don't see it this way at all. To me, confrontation brings compromise and/or resolve. Or, at the very least, means I am heard. Some prefer to ignore ignorance and some will quietly mutter to whoever is willing to listen how the perceived offender lacks manners. Me, I prefer to ask the question...why?

It's amazing the reactions that you can get...from denying any knowledge of the review, to "I'm way too busy with all of the fan mail I receive to notice or reply to them all." Which was essentially what I heard from this character.

And while I must say, this is rare...to be completely dismissed by a fellow author, it still happens from time to time. Shouldn't we all be supporting each other, instead of creating these barriers between them and us? Perhaps I am showing my age here when I say that I would NEVER not acknowledge someone (unless they are religious whackjobs, who I'm sure we all come across from time to time). It goes against my core beliefs not to have manners enough to say, "Thank you." at the very least. And in a lot of cases, my reply word count will be higher than the review itself.

Well, it's happened again, only this time, it is a female author who can't be bothered to write two words in return for my review. I am mildly annoyed about this lack of manners and lack of wisdom to know that even if she read something of mine that goes against her beliefs, still doesn't make ignorance a worthy rebuttal. Normally, she would find an email written similar to this, but I have learned from previous experience that dealing with a female in situations like this is better done on a public forum, so no allegations of victim bashing or chauvinism can be levelled without evidence that is not out there for all to see.

Having read some of her work, I can see why she may not like some of my writing. I mean, who likes everything an author writes anyway, especially when reading someone like me, who tells it like it is, rather than being careful not to upset those who believe in political correctness (gone mad)?

I have been hurt by previous relationship breakdowns, but I don't look at every female like she WAS the one who hurt me...think of the term, Manhater. I can only guess this could be the case here, but guessing is not a pure science, in fact, it is hardly ever accurate. I may be way off point here, but what else do I have to go by other than a bunch of poems describing past hurt and pain and the wonders of cats?

And this might be the other answer. I am a dog person, and we all know that cat people, and dog people, are like oil and water...or more like chalk and cheese, in my humble opinion. After all, you don't get sniffer cats at airports, or security cats in the police or armed forces. Cats do some good by reducing mice and rats in the areas they frequent, but does a cat know the difference between a mouse and a native marsupial? Or a rare and endangered bird or lizard? Dogs, in general, are not allowed to wander the streets at night or any other time, and yet, cat people, in general, will allow their cats out after dark or during daylight hours, to wage war on any living thing they are capable of killing, just for fun.

I think it says a lot about the person who doesn't believe manners are a worthwhile thing to possess, but life goes on regardless.
