“What’s the matter with you today? We’re getting behind! You know Dave won’t let us leave till we meet quota. At this rate I’m going to miss Frankie’s whole game!”

“I’m sorry, I’ll speed up…” Shelia said, suddenly working faster.

Janet watched her, and noticed she started off fast, then almost immediately slowed down, a frown on her face. “What is up with you? Where are you today?”

“I’m sorry…”

“Be sorry, and work faster!” then realizing her co-worker seemed in distress, Janet said, “What aren’t you telling me? What’s wrong?”

“I don’t remember a thing.”

“Oh my gosh! You have amnesia? Do you know my name?”

Shelia burst out laughing, “No, I mean one thing, one important thing, but just one.”

“Oh,” Janet said, “you scared me for a minute! What is it that you don’t remember?”

“Now that’s funny… ‘What is it that you don’t remember?’ How can you remember, what you don’t remember?”

This time they both laughed. “That was a silly way to put it, I’m sorry. I know I’m supposed to do something after work. I know it’s important too, I just can’t remember what it is!”

“Oh no! Does that mean you won’t be able to drop me off for Frankie’s game?”

“That’s it! I’m giving you a ride to Frankie’s game! I knew there was something important, his first game pitching! I’m sorry!” Then looking around she added, “We better get busy! We’re behind and Dave won’t let us leave till we meet quota!”

Rolling her eyes Janet said, “Good idea!” and then they both burst into another laughing fit.

Dave looked over, thinking, ‘I’d fire those two in a heartbeat, unfortunately they always make their quota. I bet they’re laughing about me, the little snits…’ and he grumped himself away.
