Isabel's aunt seems to have taken over King Ellis' kingdom for her own sake.
Isabel had an Aunt Brooklyn who lived with the rogue Rejigs. Brooklyn was a Rejig and could turn into a horse. Her only brother, King Elis, was also a Rejig. Elis chose not to use his power of fear that the animal would take control, as it has done many times before. Brooklyn was two years younger than Elis and she wasn’t too pleased about it. “He gets everything first. He got to be king and what do I get? I get to be a housewife for a lousy prince.” Brooklyn often said. And the more she said it the more jealous she became. While Isabel was gone, she decided to pay her brother a visit. Brooklyn sent Elis a letter announcing that she was coming. Elis welcomed her and held great feasts in her honor. But even this didn’t soften Brooklyn’s heart. So after Brooklyn had been living at the castle a year or so, she called all the rogue Rejigs to take away King Elis and Queen Renee. Elizabeth was held as ransom. If Elis and Renee didn’t do what Brooklyn wanted, Elizabeth would get eaten by Silas. So Elis had to do what his sister told him to do. He announced Brooklyn as queen, and afterwards, was taken to the other Rejigs to be treated as ‘special guests’. The only thing that could stop Brooklyn was her missing niece. “That bothersome child has access to the wand and we must make sure she doesn’t get it.” Brooklyn said. “I must find my niece.” Brooklyn heard the wolves howl with messages about Isabel’s whereabouts and planned to get Isabel back to the castle. Finally, after a few years, Brooklyn found a specially trained Rejig named Jaxar. Jaxar was sent to the deep woods to hunt down Isabel and any woodland critters with her.
