Oh my heart--
Let's leave Paris behind
with its grand pretensions of romance:
the Seine, the Eiffel Tower
cobblestone streets, tiny bistros
petunias and primrose--
But what does a city know of devotion?
Rather, come charter a vessel with me
and we'll sneak away to the sea
where the oceans know of love;
under periwinkle skies
our passion will rise and fall
with the highs of tumultuous waves
and the lows of calm waters;
as profound as the sea floor where
Poseidon himself presides;
and in this vessel built for two
on these emblematic waters
I will be yours
and you will be mine
