Dream content
I dreamt I took a voyage
Upon a sea of tea
My sails an oddment of clothes filled with the scent of Darjeeling
A packet steamer the 'SS Shower Gel' passed by our starboard side
Soapy bubbles exiting its funnel
One by one I watched them burst, in a velvet chequered sky
Handkerchiefs wheeled and billowed, makeshift gulls
On deck ladies in crinoline and men with bowler hats, watch knickers and bras dance the CanCan and disappear, swallowed down a hatch
We sailed to the four corners of my suitcase, and back by lunch
The captain was a tea cake, big fat currants for eyes.
He ran a tight ship no room for crumbs here!
Don't think it strange
I saw you there, holding the hand of your governess, eating candy floss, red ribbons in your hair
A tug upon your arm and some words spoken gruff, you were told to dismiss
For I was a sight, a dressed ragamuffin lent against a capstan, Ronald McDonald shoes too big for my feet
My ginger wig without me, was reciting the Bards Othello to nobody in particular by the gunwale
The breeze plucked errant locks of red
As a shout of land ahoy!
I turned to see
Harbour, bobbing limped biscuit boats and sugar cube buoys floating on the tea
Disembarking down a silver spooned gang plank the dream left me
