This is a poem about the moon being constantly overlooked compared to the sun.
Too young to know the cost of love
Too old to fight for the potential of
All of my past lives will never live up to your standards

Waves crash over my feet, tears turn to mist
Disappearing as if they were never there

I exaggerate my importance
All I ever am is a silhouette
Failing to exist on my own
With the fear of only being a distraction in your eyes

They have never felt warmth, as cold as my touch

Shining has never been enough for you
In my head, a mantra, all they’ve said
I could never compete with completeness, I am just a shattered stone
Mistaken for something more
I am only pieces and phases of myself
I still exist in all my memories
Life flies, flies by and I sit in place
Like the fool I am
