A poem dedicated to her. Love is familiar, but time stands still.
To My Love

Life alone was scary. Like being in an open field, with no end in sight. I chased the horizon, hoping to find dimension.
Life was flat, a part of myself was locked away in a cobwebbed-filled room. I couldn't see it, but I could feel it.
My love for you is like hearing a song for the first time, and 5 seconds in you know that you'll love it.
Your love fills the gaps in my heart. Your love is like hydrating a lonely, dry plant. In desperate need of growth.
I never experienced blooming flowers until I met you.
I never experienced seasons until I loved you. I could see things I'd never seen before.
That there were holidays and things to celebrate. I genuinely never knew the months of the year until we loved one another.
I never cared to learn about these things. Because life was "passing me by".
I never cared to view life from a positive perspective.
But loving you feels like a warm bear hug when you've been out in the cold all day.
Your cuddles, your nudges in the night, the giggles between bed sheets, and your soft breathing pattern as we sleep remind me that you're my gift from the universe.
Falling in love with you feels like sinking into a cozy mattress. A freshly washed comforter and cold pillowcases accompanied by quiet thoughts.
Falling in love with you eases my soul, that nothing else matters. I am protected.
I stare into your eyes as I slip into admiration. Admiring your effortless perfection. Your freckles, your blue eyes, and your curly hair.
They remind me of home. They remind me of gentle rain. They remind me of the cool fresh morning air. They remind me that I am alive.
I don't know how I got so lucky. That we co-existed in the same space. That you were right in front of me for years.
