Poem about the journey and process of healing through trauma.
WOUNDS

Traveling through life, and the hands that we are dealt,
Living through the pain of experiences prior felt.
How to overcome the negatives deep within your mind,
To defeat the searing wounds inflicted over time.
Walking through the fire, trying to remain strong,
Doing my best to make right all that went wrong.
To turn the mind back from the dark to the light again,
Believing in yourself like you did way back when.
Being mindful and present in every moment that passes by,
Freeing yourself from your mind's cage, as you step out to fly.
Spreading your wings, feeling the wind as you rise up,
It takes an awakening of courage, to find the strength to jump.
Deciding within yourself, to live life fully again.
Breaking the bonds of isolation and the cage you've been living in.
So in this moment of awakening you decide to seize the day,
Telling yourself to live again no matter come what may.
Dealing with the emotions, discarding the anxiety based fear,
No longer isolating self and wishing to just disappear.
Having the strength again to look people in the eye,
Soaring above the trauma as I am learning to fly.
Dealing with the waves of emotion, no longer pushing them down.
Learning to love, smile and laugh again as I discard my frown.
So here I am flying now, learning to live free,
Hoping that others follow my lead and come and join me!
