the meaning of the season
What sparked off these thoughts was seeing children playing and hearing their laughter on Chirstmas morn:

         There amongst the wrapping,
         All the children sat,
         Along with all the presents,
         From Tom,Hanna and Pat.

There were building blocks and cars too,
         All littered across the floor,
Why even a great bit thingambob,
         That just didn't work anymore.

It had a little extending arm,
That moved this way and that,
But no-one knew just what it was,
I'd better ring and ask Pat.

         But over in the corner,
         Lay one parcel still untouched,
It was wrapped in gold and silver,
With a label that just matched.

         The label was handwritten,
         Personally addressed too,
         Written by a messenger,
         Just for me and you.

For it's a gift of life unending,
Where Joy and freedom be found,
         it's personally autographed
From the Saviour I'll be bound.

So in the corner it stands there
Will you open it this night and be free,
         Or will it come back,
Again next year, under the Christmas tree
